What is the Montecristo Double Edmundo?
The Montecristo Double Edmundo is a Habanos cigar in the Dobles vitola, measuring 155 mm by a 50 ring gauge. It was added to the Montecristo line in 2013. It keeps the ring gauge of the original Edmundo and adds about 20 mm of length, which gives a longer and cooler smoke. Montecristo is one of the best-known Cuban brands, founded in 1935, and every cigar is made totally by hand with tobacco from Pinar del Río.

Tasting notes
The first third opens with cedar and light spice over a creamy base. In the middle, cocoa and roasted coffee come forward, and the draw stays easy. The final third turns earthier and fuller while keeping the smooth finish Montecristo is known for. Because it is longer, the Double Edmundo develops more slowly than the standard Edmundo.
Construction is firm and even. The Colorado wrapper has a light oily sheen, and the ash holds well past an inch. Use a straight cut and toast the foot slowly for an even burn. If you let the cigar rest between puffs, you will notice more sweetness in the middle third.
Pairing suggestions
The Montecristo Double Edmundo pairs well with drinks that match its cocoa and coffee notes. An aged rum or a single malt whisky balances the spice. For a morning or afternoon smoke, a strong espresso or a café cubano works just as well. Avoid heavily peated whisky, which can cover the cedar notes.
The Montecristo Edmundo family
The Edmundo line takes its name from Edmond Dantès, the hero of The Count of Monte Cristo. It has three sizes:
- Montecristo Edmundo: 135 mm × 52
- Montecristo Double Edmundo: 155 mm × 50
- Montecristo Petit Edmundo: 110 mm × 52
If you enjoy the classic torpedo, see our Montecristo No. 2. For a shorter smoke, try the Montecristo No. 4.
How to store your box of 25
Keep the cigars in a humidor at 65–70% relative humidity and around 18–21 °C. A calibrated hygrometer helps you hold those levels. Our humidor guide explains the setup. Stored this way, a sealed box of Montecristo Double Edmundo will keep ageing well for years. Rotate the cigars every few months and keep the box away from direct sunlight. If they feel dry, rest them in the humidor for a few days before smoking.
